- Finished High School at Scottsville, Albemarle, Virginia. Worked at the Chesapeak & Ohio Railroad Depot and taught telegraphy for many years. Later moved to South Charleston, Kanawha, West Virginia and worked for the Naval Ordinance Plant. Then he worked for United Fuel Gas Co. for 25 years. Served two terms as mayor of South Charleston and then worked for the State House. He died of a heart attack. He was the treasurer of his Baptist Church for 25 years. He was a Boy Scout leader and worked for the March of Dimes. (Family Biographer)
